May 17, 2017 meeting minutes

 

TOWN OF ARBOR VITAE - General Meeting - May 17, 2017

CALL BOARD OF REVIEW TO ORDER: Chairman Bauers called the Board of Review to order at 7:00PM. Jim Placek, Assessor from Bowmar was present. Due to the assessment roll not being complete a motion by Hunter was seconded by Johnson to adjourn the Board of Review until a later date and time to be published.  Unanimously approved. 

 

CALL TO ORDER: Chairman Bauers called the general meeting to order at 7:01PM. It had been properly posted and the media notified.

 

ROLL CALL: Present Frank Bauers, Ashley Stelmack, Brian Nerdahl, Ryan Johnson and Jeff Hunter, Brian Jopek from the Lakeland Times and 6 others were also present.

 

AGENDA: Motion by Stelmack, second by Nerdahl to approve the agenda.  Motion carried.

 

MINUTES:  Motion by Johnson, second by Hunter to approve the minutes of the May 3, 2017 meeting as read. Motion carried.

 

TREASURER’S REPORT:  The April report was reviewed by the board. Motion by Nerdahl, second by Hunter to approve the report as presented. Motion carried.

 

PUBLIC COMMENTS / CORRESPONDENCE:  Custom Caretaking bills received for storm damage clean up.  Received Devil’s Elbow info, now run by AV-W School.

 

WITCHES LAKE RD CLASS B ROAD – Steve Petersen:  Petersen here requesting board to reconsider Class B status for Witches Lake Road.  If loggers have access to new DNR road, town instructs them to use it. No problem using gravel portions of town roads.  Future loggers will have to work around Witches Lake Road.  Bauers instructed Petersen to have the loggers who need to move their loads now contact Bauers in the office.

 

OPEN ROAD PAVING/CHIP SEALING BIDS:  Received bids from Pitlik & Wick for road paving as follows:  Trapp Road from Hwy 51 in 634’ (0.12 miles) - $30,753.92; North Farming Road from intersection w Hwy 51 and continue west to just past Rux Road, 200’ of Rux Road, and 125’ of Schumann Road intersections (1.465 miles) - $250,981.50; and Mattke Road from Hwy 47 then north to just past Sumach Lake Road (0.928 miles) - $166,805.78.  Received bids from Pitlik & Wick for chip sealing as follows:  Single Chip Seal -- Marchese Road from Thiedman to end of road (540’) - $1,986; White Birch Road from Mattke Road to end of road (700’) - $2,592; Single Chip Seal and Ride Control -- Sherwood Lane from Lakeland Road to Johnson Creek Road (2100’) - $13,485; Towanda Road from Airport Road to end of road (3410’) - $23,187; and Ride control only -- Propwash Bay Road from Sumach Lake Road north (5500’) - $11,190.  Motion by Johnson, second by Hunter to accept bids for North Farming, Trapp Road, and the entire chip sealing bid in the total amount of $334,175.42   Motion carried.  

 

BUILDING REPORT:  1-storage unit $60,000, 2-garages $87,000,  1-deck $137,  1-demo $500.00.  April’s total $147,637.  Years total $453,627.00. 

 

APPROVE CHECKS & VOUCHERS:  Checks 39438 to 39529 were approved for May in the amount of $123,714.82.

 

ADJOURNMENT: The meeting adjourned at 7:45PM. The next general meeting is June 7, 2017.
