August 2, 2017 board meeting minutes

 

 TOWN OF ARBOR VITAE  General Meeting  August 2, 2017

CALL TO ORDER: Chairman Bauers called the meeting to order at 7:00PM. It had been properly posted and the media notified.

 

ROLL CALL: Present Frank Bauers, Jeff Hunter, Brian Nerdahl, Ryan Johnson and Ashley Roach.  Brian Jopek from the Lakeland Times and 1 other person was present.

 

AGENDA:  Motion by Nerdahl, second by Johnson to approve the agenda. Motion carried.

 

MINUTES: Motion by Johnson, second by Hunter approve the minutes of the July 19th, 2017 meeting as read. Motion carried. Motion by Roach, second Hunter to approve the minutes of the July 17th, 2017 Special Board meeting. Motion carried.

          

PUBLIC COMMENTS / CORRESPONDENCE:  1) Fall Town & Village Workshop on 9/7/17. 2) Letter about ATV trails.  3) Bauers will meet with representatives from the State of WI to talk about the Outdoor Recreation plan for the state forest on 8-8-17.  4) Culvert update for Arrowhead Dr. 5) Tom Michaels would like to change the billboards that are being moved on Hwy 51N and the DOT said we have that decision. He wants them steel constructed, lite and larger. Bauers said no to all three things. 6) Resident reported very poor  internet connection on Rux Rd.

 

MEDICAL INSURANCE: M3 Insurance gave us a spreadsheet of quotes from WPS, United Health and Anthem and the best price came from Anthem so we will change from our present carrier which is WPS to Anthem for next year’s medical insurance.

 

REQUEST FOR MINIMUM HOUSE SIZE ADDED TO COUNTY ZONING ORDINANCE: Arbor Vitae Ordinance #3-92 states that a manufactured house must be a current year model, on a permanent foundation and 768 sq. ft. is the minimum size of a home. Wisconsin Towns Association recommended that because we are under Vilas County Zoning we should ask the County to incorporate the 768 sq. ft. minimum for a home into their zoning ordinance. Motion by Johnson, second by Nerdahl to ask Vilas County Zoning to list the minimum square foot for a home to be 768 Square Feet. Unanimously approved.

 

OPERATORS LICENSES: There were 8 applications for Operator’s Licenses and everything checked out for all of them. Motion by Hunter, second by Bauers to approve the licenses as presented. Unanimously approved.

 

ADJOURNMENT:  Motion by Johnson, second by Roach to adjourn the meeting at 7:28PM. The next general meeting is August 16th, 2017 at 7:00PM.
